SCADA Upgrade - MAGIC VALLEY ELECTRIC CO-OP

  • SCADA Upgrade consisting of:
    • Replacement of 12 year old existing QEI SCADA system, with limited upgradeable enhancements, running Open VMS operating system on Dual Redundant Master DEC DS10 Servers communicating, via QUICS Client protocol, with RTU's, via QUICS Server protocol
    • Replacement of Master communications, as Modbus Server converted to DNP3.0 Server through QEI ePAQ, for Data Aquisition by 3rd party DNP3.0 Client's Calpine Energy & ERCOT
  • Amato Consulting Support Services & Project Status -
    • 1st Qtr 2006 - Prepared & Completed Scada Upgrade Criteria Research, Bidder Selection, Bid Analysis and Recommendation for SCADA Upgrade Vendor and System Migration
    • 2nd Qtr 2006 - QEI awarded SCADA Upgrade and Deployed new Dual Redundant Master HP DS15 Servers, with Open VMS operating system, communications capability, via either QUICS or DNP3.0 Client protocols, through new Terminal Servers to RTU's with either QUICS or DNP3.0 Server protocols with additional enhancements for Dual PC Workstations running WorldView Operator Interface and dedicated SQL Server to allow for Internet access Web Reporting.
    • June 2006 - Successful SCADA Upgrade Start Up to incorporate 1 substation RTU with DNP3.0 communication, maintaining remaining substation RTU's with QUICS, deploying WorldView Operator Interface, and training of Coop personnel
    • August 2006 - Successful conversion of Calpine DNP3.0 Client data aquisition to SCADA Master via DNP3.0 Server protocol
    • February 2008 - Successful conversion of 27 RTU's to DNP3.0 Client protocol via Frame Relay and/or Licensed 900 MHz MAS radio communications
    • Project Complete
